About Jessa – Counselling for Adults, Teens, and Couples in Coquitlam

About Jessa

I’m Jessa, MPCC-Provisional (Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling) and founder of Trueself Counselling in Coquitlam.

I work with adults, teens, and couples who want to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward a more balanced and meaningful life. Through compassionate, evidence-informed counselling, I support clients in navigating anxiety, stress, grief, burnout, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

Why I Became a Counsellor

Many of the people I work with are used to carrying a lot on their own. They may appear capable and strong on the outside while feeling overwhelmed internally.

My path into counselling grew from a deep interest in mental health advocacy and supporting individuals through difficult life experiences. Through community work and crisis support roles, I saw how powerful it can be when people have a safe place to talk openly and feel truly heard.

Part of this passion is also shaped by personal experience. After losing my oldest sister to suicide when I was 11, much of my life has been spent learning about mental health, advocating for greater awareness, and supporting those who are struggling.

These experiences continue to shape the way I practice today. My goal is to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions, navigating grief and loss, and reconnecting with themselves.

Trueself Counselling Vision
