Professional Bio

How Roxanne Came To This Work

My path to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by lived experience and a deep curiosity about how we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate our daily lives.

Born in South Africa and raised across the UK and British Columbia, moving between cultures alongside early family challenges shaped my understanding of safety, belonging, and adaptation. Through personal growth, yoga, and counselling, I learned how experiences may help form protective patterns that serve us in moments of uncertainty, but can eventually feel limiting. These experiences led me to become a counsellor, giving me a genuine appreciation for what it takes to seek safety, connection, and self-understanding.

In my practice, we explore the stories, relationships, expectations, and environments that shape you. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, anti-oppressive, and welcoming of both neurodivergent and neurotypical ways of processing. Alongside reflection, I integrate somatic and nervous-system practices to help notice body responses that are hard to put into words.

I believe change isn’t about becoming happier, more productive, or “put together.” Life naturally includes discomfort alongside joy, and there is room for all of it — including the parts of ourselves we’ve learned to hide.

I meet each person with curiosity and respect for the fullness of their lived experience. Together, we slow down to make room for what’s present — creating space to process your experience, build self-trust, and reclaim choice in how you relate to yourself, others, and your environment.
