Meet Lina
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, especially when you’ve been trying to manage things on your own. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and comfortable being yourself.
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself.— Lina Abbas
Professional Bio
I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, emotional challenges, life transitions, and difficult life experiences.
I especially enjoy supporting adults who may be struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, life stressors, or the effects of stressful or traumatic experiences.
My approach is calm, supportive, and collaborative. I focus on building trust and creating a space where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself, better understand what you’re experiencing, and develop healthy and practical ways of coping.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in intensive case management roles supporting vulnerable populations. This experience deepened my understanding of how trauma and difficult life experiences can shape the way we feel, relate to others, and move through everyday life.
Counselling isn’t one-size-fits-all. I take a flexible and personalized approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Together, we can explore what’s happening, identify what may be getting in the way, and find strategies that fit you and what you need from counselling.
Most importantly, I aim to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard and respected — without pressure to have everything figured out.
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
I am fluent in both English and Arabic and offer culturally sensitive counselling in either language.

Counselling Approaches & Modalities
If overthinking, second-guessing, or constant ‘what if’ thoughts are leaving you mentally exhausted, counselling can help you understand what keeps the cycle going and develop healthier ways of responding to it.
