EMDR Therapy in Victoria, BC

Sometimes difficult experiences continue to affect how we feel long after they've happened. EMDR therapy offers a structured approach to processing distressing memories and reducing the emotional impact they may have on everyday life.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach developed to help people process distressing or traumatic experiences.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, which may involve guided eye movements, alternating sounds, or gentle tapping, while working with memories in a structured therapeutic setting.

EMDR does not require you to describe every detail of a difficult experience. Your counsellor works collaboratively with you to determine an appropriate pace and approach.

What Can EMDR Help With?

EMDR is most established as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related distress.

It may also be considered when difficult memories contribute to anxiety, emotional distress, negative beliefs about yourself, or reactions that feel difficult to manage.

Natasha can help you explore whether EMDR is appropriate for your needs or whether another counselling approach may be a better fit.

What to Expect from EMDR Counselling

1

Getting to Know You

Your counsellor takes time to understand your experiences, concerns, goals, and what you're hoping to work toward.

2

Building Readiness

Before memory processing, you may work on grounding, emotional regulation, and strategies to support a sense of stability.

3

Processing at Your Pace

When appropriate, Natasha guides you through structured EMDR processing, with ongoing attention to your comfort, responses, and needs.

Curious whether EMDR therapy might be right for you? A free consultation with Natasha is an opportunity to ask questions, discuss your concerns, and explore your counselling options.
